bavaria trip
Mon, 11/21/2011 - 05:05
hello people.i am planning a trip to Passau and Salzburg. Can some body tell me the best and cheapest way.My origin is from Munich.I would like to know in detail about the Bayern Ticket..where to buy..cost..how to find people to share the ticket ..should it be bought in advance..etc etc!
looking forward to your posts guys..

It’s been a few years, so I won’t name a price, but it was a very inexpensive way to go. I bought them at a kiosk in the train station on the day we were to use them. I seem to recall that they cost more in the ticket line; I found the kiosks in a separate room and had difficulty using them because I didn’t know the local geography, but they had many attendants there to help us.
I was with my wife, so that was our group. I didn’t look into what the requirements for a group were, whether you had to be related, or members of a club, etc.

I would buy the Bayern ticket in advance from bahn.de, but if that doesn’t work out for you, just buy it at a German rail station as Cleveland describes. Deutschbahn has an office in London where you might be able to buy it — I don’t know if there are offices in other major cities outside Germany.
The link I posted must have been sold.
Here is a current link. http://www.bahn.com/…
Note they have a single ticket and the multiparty ticket. Each costs 2 euro less if bought online or at the machines. I can’t recall if they are dated. Because I like flexibility, and they can’t be used before 0900 (on weekdays), I just bought them the mornings we needed them. Note that you can use one for a nice daytrip to Salzburg.
