Best route to Morocco
Mon, 08/02/2004 - 16:25
I’m planning on heading over from Arizona in the U.S. next May (both Morocco and Tunisia) for 3 weeks. Is my best bet to fly directly into an international airport there (Tangier?) or head somewhere like Madrid and then train/ferry over? I’m definitely looking for the cheapest route. An open-jaw return is a possibility, possibly out of Italy if I can get a cheaper fare there.
Any recommendations?
From Phoenix to Madrid is about 1,500, so if you wanna see a bit of Spain, that’s a good choice. But if your strapped for cash, you probably should just fly to Tangier or Marrakech
How do you plan to get from Morocco to Tunisia or vv? You can’t exactly cross Algeria by land, you know…
I can get from Phoenix to Madrid for $700 U.S. (so far). The cheapest I can find to Morocco is over a grand. I don’t know about adding in the cost of travel through Spain + ferry + etc. though. Seems like it’s always cheaper to fly to Western Europe than Northern Africa from the U.S.
As for getting to Tunisia, I’ll probably have to fly. I could also take a ferry to France and back down, but I don’t know about the cost and time committment of that.
Royal Air Maroc flies JFK-CMN (Casablanca)
Air France flies to both CMN and Tunis from Paris.
Thanks Sailor, you know anything about the ferry from Morocco to Tunisia (via southern France, Nice maybe)?
I know nothing of a ferry liking the two countries. it sounds rather time consuming….Have you looked into airfares?
