BEST SERVICE ABOVE AND BEYOND BY HOSTEL STAFF!
Thu, 08/26/2010 - 17:25
Anyone got reat stories of super helpful staff? I recently stayed in east berlin for the world hard-court bike polo championships (look it up… too much fun) The hostel half the Autralian team stayed in: HOSTEL DIE ETAGE EAST was tidy, well priced, spacious and the staff were very helpful. (our unique polo bikes were allowed to be locked up inside) However, that was not what made me want to write this post. My bike was to be picked up by DHL and shipped back to Australia and hour or two after I left for the rest of my trip (through the balkans) The hostel staff informed my team-mates that the DHL rep had not picked up the bike due to it lacking a specific document that had to bo stuck to the box. After sourcing the document I sent it to Hostel die etage east and they kindly printed it and stuck it to the bike box. (nice) After I attempted and failed to reshedule the pick up over the net the hostel staff kept me posted and assured me my bike was safe. Several failed phone calls to german DHL phone centres later and I was starting to stress out! THen I recieved an email saying that the hostel owner had fronted the 3 euro for a rescheduled pick-up and hostel staff had booked it online. I was blown away. my bike is now safely on it’s way home thanks to the kindness of the staff.
Awesome. That sounds definitely above and beyond. You’re going to send him a tip, right? Do it, and you might be set every time you return to Berlin.
The best lodging staff I have ever encountered were at Sir Toby’s Hostel in Prague. 5 star hotels should put their staff through the same training. Down-to-earth, genuine, very helpful and reassuring, allowing focus on enjoying travel rather than the stresses of travel.
nice sounds great
