hey everyone!

My friends and i are traveling are seven weeks this summer, and for the last two weeks, we have an itinerary of germany (berlin, maybe frankfurt), camping in the swiss alps, budapest, and london.

Any advice on the best way to get between these places would be appreciated! we already are going to have a eurail pass for spain, france, the netherlands, and germany, and can add one more country if need be.

Please let me know, thanks!

Rail prices are quite high in Switzerland, so if you can add them to your pass for a reasonable price, then that might be a good move.

Why Frankfurt? I’d much prefer Munich.

London is really the odd man out in this combination. For that, fly. See www.skyscanner.net and www.whichbudget.com and www.bookingbuddy.com

great, thanks!

One of our friends is flying home from Frankfurt, so we just have to drop her off there at some point.

Would you recommend going from Berlin to Budapest to Switzerland then fly to london? Or Berlin to switzerland, to budapest and then fly to london? figuring out that combination is whats puzzling us most!

we have to end up in london last, as our final plane home leave froms around there.

I would definitely buy a pass that included Switzerland or look at one of the many available options for Switzerland like a Swiss pass, Swiss discount card, etc. A eurail pass that covers Switzerland has a lot of bonuses, like lake steamers and buses, plus gives a discount on some of the privately owned scenic railways, funiculars, etc. A Swiss pass provides even more discounts and bonuses and is honored on some of the private railways. You’ll need to figure out your Swiss itinerary and do some on-line research to figure out what’s best for you.

I’d start this decision-making process by pricing the possible flights. Find the cheapest flight to London (probably NOT from Switzerland) and then plan around that.
