Bit complex, not europe.. but still needing help
Fri, 07/13/2007 - 10:38
Ok, I’ve done the Eurotrip thing this summer and I had a blast, and my next trip I am already planning, yes.. I’ve been bit by the travle bug badly haha. But I know this is not for a Europe flight but I still need help. I am extremely flexible! I am looking for a flight from anywhere in Continental Canada/USA to pretty much anywhere in South East Asia, maybe even Australia. So, like Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Bangkok (BKK), Singapore (SIN), anywhere in Austrlia, Ho Chi Mign City, Hong Kong, anywhere really. The reason I say anywhere from continental USA/Canada is because I am going to use my 25 000 aeroplan points because I am from a small city and the nearest big airport is like a 20 hour drive (montreal) and even then, air travel within Canada is super expensive. So I will be using my aeroplan points because it brings me anywhere within CAN/USA. So I need a flight from anywhere to south east asia or australia. I Don’t know whether I should buy a round trip ticket, reverse open jaw, two one ways, or what I should do. The dates I am looking to depart is around April 22-May 10th, anywhere in that bracket, so its a large travel date to deal with. And I would like to be away for 2 months or So. I don’t really know what to do, please help.

Even though it’s not specifically Europe, the strategies are similar.
Flights from west coast cities will probably be cheapest, so check YVR, SEA, SFO and LAX. By using your miles to get there, you can schedule to spend time in one of those cities, too, with no airline “stopover” fee added.
Go to www.farecompare.com Click “Getaway Maps.” Enter SFO (or another airport) and click “Change” to update the maps. Then check out the Asia and Australasia maps for the cheapest published fares.
Do you qualify for student tickets? If so, then check www.travelcuts.com and www.statravel.com
Also compare “Circle Pacific” and multi-destination fares at www.airtreks.com
Once you’ve narrowed down your itinerary, compare Travelcuts, Airtreks, Farecompare’s price agains www.asia.com No one source is always cheapest, so you have to shop around, and for this itinerary, I think these are the best flight tools to shop with. BookingBuddy.com wouldn’t hurt, either—see the ‘new users’ thread top of this forum for more tips.
where can 25000 aero plan fly you? Which airlines does this belong to?
London, Brussels, Basel, Paris, London
25000 aeroplan can get you anywhere in continental usa/canada from anywhere. in my case, i can go from sydney to halifax to toronto to lax. then take another plane internationally to asia, return to lax. then take a plane from lac to calgary, visit my relatives for 3 weeks, and then return from calgary to montreal to halifax to sydney all for only 25000 aeroplan. the system is a bit dumb really because i could go from sydney to toronto return for 25000!!
rbrettg, hey there i too just got done with backpacking europe for 6 weeks w my girl and we loved it and im already planning our next trip too haha. it was soooo fun and we cant wait till next summer. were gonna head to thailand. im still researching it and all but it should be awesome
