Hi Everyone

I’m leaving for Spain & Greece. I have an old blackberry that has been unlocked. I want to buy an international simcard in europe, however I don’t really care about talk time… looking more for Data so that i can email/facebook and bbm. Does anyone know if this is possible and approx cost of the “Data” simcard?

Thanks!

I am leaving from Toronto with $3000 for 15 days
Barcelona, Mýkonos, Santorini

I don’t know Blackberries, so I have to ask…

Does your device work on GSM 900 and 1800? If not, then leave it at home — unless it has wifi and you think you might use that.

If it will take a SIM and work on GSM 900/1800, then you’ll also need a plug adapter for your charger. REI.com has them.

I found these for you:

Hmmm I have no idea what it works on. It’s an 8900 Rogers BB Curve. It does have Wifi but doesn’t seem to work without a SIM card.

A quick google of that model looks like it is indeed quad-band, so should work with European GSM frequencies — if unlocked, and if you purchase a European SIM for it on arrival. It looks like data is GPRS or Edge — not 3G; that should be adequate for email and blogging, but don’t count on it for streaming music or video—for example.

If the wifi function is not working now, then I doubt it will work there either. Wifi should work independently of any provider’s SIM installed in the device.
