Booking flight today!!! Need cheapest fare!!
Wed, 11/28/2007 - 13:18
I’m looking to book my flight to Europe (London to be exact) today from Charlotte, NC for Feb 26-April 30 but am getting a little discouraged! I’ve been following airline rates for awhile now and they keep going up so I wanted to go ahead and book before they get much higher. I’ve checked farecompare, statravel, student universe, orbitz,….everywhere it seems and I still can’t find cheaper than $564! Any suggestions would be so helpful! My dates are flexible although I cannot return past May 1st! I can also benefit from being under 26 with student discounts. Thanks so much

Because of British airport taxes, anywhere in the UK has huge taxes. So there’s not much room for the price to drop. Plus you have a trip of more than 30 days, which usually ups the price too. I thinK $564 is really not bad.
Do you only want London?
I do not necessarily need London…I just wanted to start at the top and work my way down through Europe. I’m not looking into flying into london but then out of another city in continental Europe so that has lowered the prices a bit. What cities would you recommend flying into besides London?
i meant to write “i’m NOW looking into flying into london and then out of another city….” sorry about that!
Where are you seeing the $564? Does that include taxes?
Yeah, $564 is a good price for that itinerary.
I used your info with the tips and links in our new users thread (top of this forum) and see $611 total for London; $562 total Frankfurt; $567 AMS; $617 ZRH; $607 CPH. I see similar prices for Stockholm, Geneva, and Manchester.
I think this fare level is typical considering stay > 30 days, and from Charlotte which isn’t a major gateway.
You might also try this short(er) list of cities with Mobissimo and Kayak’s multi-city searches.
Got one from Charlotte-London then home from Munich for $586 through Kayak (well, it led me to airfare.com to actually book it). So I snagged it! Thanks for everyones help!
You got good price. Thanks for letting the forum know—it might help someone else with a similar itinerary.
