Bookings & Charges
Mon, 10/12/2009 - 16:46
I’ve recently booked 4 hostels- one in Amsterdam, Paris, London, & Dublin. My question is about the charges that have been made. When I booked them, I agreed to pay a certain price, well at the time, it was “Total Paid”. After looking at my bank account, the charges are slightly different. Note: service charges were made individually, so that’s not the reason for the discrepancy. Here’s an example: On a confirmation email, the total paid was reported as 14.18 US Dollars, but my bank account was charged $14.79. With all of the charges on my bank account, they are more than what “Total Paid” was reported during the time of booking. I know that’s not much of a difference, but I just want to make sure I’m not being scammed in any way. Has this happened to anyone? Do you know why this is? I would appreciate any help!
I am leaving from Cincinnati, OH with $5000 for 12 days

Could it have something to do with you getting prices in dollars but actually being charged in Euros/Sterling? Maybe exchange rates fluctuated slightly or your bank charged a small foreign currency transaction fee?
What company did you book through?

I used Eurotrip to find a hostel which uses HostelBookers.com for bookings. I’m assuming it dealt with what the the currency exchange rate like that person above had mentioned.

That would make sense, but you can always contact hostelbookers with any questions.
