BOS-BIO, MAD-BOS help please
Wed, 01/05/2011 - 09:26
I have found a flight for my kids and I from Boston to Bilbao heading out on 4/20 and returning on 5/2. It is $636 on the Iberia website. The only change of planes is in MAD.
My wife would like to go with us on the outbound flight to BIO, do a side trip on her own toward the end of our stay in Bilbao, and then meet us in MAD for the second leg of our return journey back to Boston.
When I price out BOS-BIO and MAD-BOS on iberia.com, it’s coming out to $967. Rather than putting her on our same outbound flights from Boston to Madrid and Madrid to Bilbao, it is putting her on a flight fom BOS-JFK, JFK-MAD, then MAD-BIO.
Any idea how I can get her to be on our itinerary (minus the leg from BIO-MAD) and get it for closer to the $636? Thanks…

Try again later today, and tomorrow morning. It could be a seat availability issue, which sometimes go away with unpaid reservations getting dumped overnight.
If that doesn’t work, then check other sources for hers, such as Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, and Fly.com.
Looks like it was just a temporary seat availability issue; I see BOS-BIO-MAD-BOS for your dates for $625 on Iberia’s site. If you find that fare next time you check you might want to put it on hold, since Iberia gives you 48 hours to lock it in without having to pay anything.
Thanks a lot for your help, guys. We have our reservation on hold with Iberia. Very cool that you can do that.
Another question I have: The Iberia website was driving me crazy because it wouldn’t let me price out that BOS-BIO-MAD-BOS fare without routing me through JFK or LHR. So I called the Visa/Chase travel department, told the agent the flight numbers, and she was able to price out that flight the way I wanted it with the $625 fare.
Are there any websites where you can have your itinerary priced out by putting in the flight numbers, and not just the origin and destination? Thanks again…
There are, but not for general consumption. Instead, try the multi-city flight searches with Orbitz, Expedia, Kayak, Travelocity ….
Glad that you got what you were looking for, and at a good price. Thanks for sharing with the forum how you got it.
