I’ve scoured the airfare sites provided on this website but can’t come up with a ticket under $1,000. The kicker is, I need an afternoon or evening flight from Barcelona to Madrid to Boston on July 12. Any help is appreciated.

– departure date: July 2
– departure airport (don’t worry if you don’t know the airport code, just the city name and state or country is enough): Boston
– arrival airport(s): Madrid
– return date: July 12
– where you will return to (if different from departure airport): Boston
– do you qualify for student or senior fares?: Yes
– how flexible you are with departure and return dates: Could leave on July 11 or return on July 13
– how flexible with departure and arrival airports?: Not flexible.

Do you mean BOS to MAD or BCN on July 2—with no flexibility to leave at all—couldn’t depart July 1 or 3, for example?

Return date preferred is July 12, but July 11 or 13 is ok, correct?

If you’re a student or under 26, did you also already check the student ticket sites linked from our new user thread?

Peak season, not flexible, I’m surprised you found anything at only $1000. Where did you find this itinerary for only $1000 — which seller or airline?

Leaving BOS, July 2 is preferred but July 1 could work. July 3 will not work.

Returning to BOS, July 12 is preferred but July 13 could work. Cannot leave on July 11 as originally posted.

Connections are fine but overnight stays are not.

Checked the student ticket sites with no savings over the mainstream sites.

Have not found anything at or under $1,000. If I could, I would pull the trigger. Cheapest I’ve found is around $1,300.

Edit: I’m trying to match a trip that’s already planned, hence the inflexibility.

You might want to re-check Student Universe. They’re showing BOS-MAD July 2-13 for $788 round trip, total with taxes. You might have to buy a $22 ISIC membership, if you don’t already have one, to access this fare.

Play with the dates at StudentUniverse to see if a cheaper combination comes up on your other travel dates, as well as coming back from BCN instead—if that’s what you’d prefer.

Yeh, BOS-MAD July 1-13 $760
BOS-BCN $808 (use their +/- 1 day on StudentUniverse to find it)
Didn’t check the multi-city prices for you. That’s your homework

The $788 price requires an overnight stay in Amsterdam on the way back.

Yep, it sure does. I guess that’s the price you pay to snag such a good fare. Spend $50 extra for a hostel bed, train ticket, and some meals. There are much worse places to layover than Amsterdam.

I kept checking and found to MAD, return from BCN also for $760 total.

You could try sleeping in the airport, at the pod hotel there, or nearby Etap via the hotel shuttle bus, or even http://www.sleepingi… if you’re more adventurous, but you’d probably be kicking yourself for not at least getting a late night and/or early morning stroll through the ‘dam before heading back to the airport.
