Camera batteries and memory
Thu, 01/14/2010 - 15:26
Hello, I am planning a month long trip for next year. I plan on taking tons of pictures.
1. Like most cameras, mine is a big battery eater. Is it cheaper to bring batteries or buy them over there?
2. I have two memory cards but worry that i will run out of space. Do most hostel/library computers give an option of uploading your memory card so that I can reuse the same ones or is there something else that you recommend?

1. Batteries, like everything else, will be more expensive in Europe. However, since you’ll need new AA’s nearly every day, you’ll probably end up with a combination of take-with- you and buy-there. The best choice is a camera with a rechargable battery. Second best is rechargable AA’s specifically designed for cameras and fancy electronics and a small recharger. Third is taking a bunch of AA’s and buying more when you’re in Europe.
2. You can often upload photos, but with the current price of memory cards, I’d just buy a couple of extra 2 or 4 gig cards. January is a good month to look for sales on memory. You can also have your images copied to a cd at a photo shop and some internet cafes.
PS, I deleted your duplicate post.
