Anyone backpacked the Caribbean Islands?

I’m planning to hit Trinidad, Antigua, and others depending on schedule around February & March (after 2010). Flying from Australia means I’ll have to fly via Los Angeles and somewhere else (probably Miami) first, so I’ll quickly hit a bit of the US aswell.

If anyone’s visited anywhere in the West Indies can they please leave a bit of advice regarding hostels, hospitality, flight options, experiences and suggestions?

Thanks

I am leaving from Australia via one week in Malaysia with $10000 for 94 days
Istanbul, Budapest, Eger, Bratislava, Wiener Neustadt, Vienna, Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, Vienna, Brno, Prague, Český Krumlov, Munich, Nuremberg, Lucerne, Gimmelwald, Interlaken, Venice, Rome, Poggibonsi, Florence, Nice, Barcelona, London, Birmingham, London, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Cologne, Frankfurt, HCMC
Requesting help with Hostels, Food

Cheers

bump

I’ve scheduled the next dream trip for 4-5 weeks over March-April 2012. It will be loosely based around the Test Cricket schedule, which should see me in Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Antigua, perhaps Jamaica. Any suggestions around these islands would be great!
Planning to spend Easter weekend in Tobago, on advice that the festivities are quite large! Not that I ever travelled anywhere to party, I’m not that type, but hey if it’s there when I’m there…why not?
I’m keen to scuba dive, lime as much as possible, get to know the streets (not the rougher ones)…who has Caribbean suggestions? Accomm.? Flight routes?

Cheers

I have not been to Jamaica or Cayman Islands since the 80’s so I don’t think my comments about those are much use now, and I have not been to the other locations you mention.
FWIW
The British Virgin Islands are gorgeous and good scuba/snorkel was to be had there.
