I don’t expect to get much info as this is primarily a website for all things Europe, but I thought I’d try any way. A friend and I have decided we are going to Africa in 2008 (July and/or August). My parents are actually going then too with their travel group (South Africa and Kenya). This group of 20 people make their own tour every year (they are in New York right now). We may join them, but it may be a little too high class (and therefore pricy) for us.
I have made a connection with a class in Uguanda. It would be cool to check out the school in Kamapla. I also have a friend in Ghana, who runs a guest house and an NGO. So it would be nice to visit her too.
We’d like to volunteer for part of our time there. Ideally we’d like to do something with children and/or schools. We are teachers – and may see if my friend in Ghana has any connections in that regard as her NGO is related to education.
So what is the point of this post? Well, if you have been to the parts of Africa I’ve mentioned, I’d love to hear where you went and what you did. If you have done any volunteer work in Africa, I’d love to hear about that too.
Cheers,
C
