I am looking for suggestions for a possible 3-4 week trip this summer to either Central or South America destinations. As a solo, non-spanish speaking female, any recommendations as to a country to which I would be best suited for indepedent travel would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to try to learn some spanish before departure but I realize I am at a disadvantage by not having basic spanish skills already and this may eliminate some places. I have traveled in Costa Rica previously so would like to try someplace new. I am focusing on C/S America cause I can get a free flight there.

Oh, did I mention that cost is a factor? So some of the more expensive countries in South America may not be an option. Thanks in advance for any help!
