cheapest airport to fly out of spain???
Tue, 07/03/2007 - 20:10
Hey, I am flying into London from LAX, but I dont want to fly back from London because it will be way out of my way. I think I will be in either Spain or Italy at the time i need to go back to the US, so I want to find an open jaw flight , but I need help— out of all the airports in Spain and Italy, whcih one typically has the cheapest flights goin to USA? I will be flying to LA or san diego, california. Barcelona? Valencia? cities that arent very popular? Rome, Venice? and which airports should I avoid or which are typically more expensive than others? It will be mid-september when I fly home. thank you!!
I’m not sure, but my guess would be Milan.
Usually the biggest cities are least expensive and with the polar flight patterns, cities in Northern Europe are usually cheaper. It also depends on which North American city you’re flying from. The major US carriers are all allied with European airlines which means that cheapest flights are usually from a US carrier’s major hubs to their partner’s capital city.
From most cities, R/T to Rome would be my guess as the cheapest for your trip.
The biggest cities most likely will be cheapest—BCN;MAD;AGP;MIL;ROM;VCESAMO. None of these are nonstop to LAX, or anywhere southern California, so you’d have to connect on return. There are several nonstop flight options between LAX and LON. So… consider a roundtrip to London, then add a low-cost flight hop back to London from Spain or Italy at the end of your trip. Also, try your open-jaw itin with www.kayak.com — they have a very good open-jaw search.
