This will not be an easy trek. The best train connection is about 18 hours with connections in Villach and Warsaw. Check schedules at http://reiseauskunft… I’m not sure where you’d find pricing for this ticket, but I’d start out with the Croatian and the Polish national rail company websites.
Croatia: http://www.hznet.hr/… If you have a problem, use http://www.hznet.hr/… and click on “English” at the bottom of the page
Poland: Poland: http://www.pkp.pl/ basic info in English by clicking on British flag

Bus will probably be cheaper but may take longer. Try www.eurolines.com

You might be able to accomplish this cheaply on Easy Jet. You’d have to fly from Zagreb to Paris and then Paris to Krakow, but there are very low fare specials available on both routes. Try posting this on our “cheap flights” forum to see if you can get some
better options from our flight gurus.

Hello,

You can either find a good flight or travel on ground. One important question: will you also be returning within a month or not?

On ground:
1) train to Budapest
There is a special reduced fare for return tickets between Budapest and Sarajevo, for 53.50€ – http://www.mav-start… . At least when they are issued in Budapest-Sarajevo-Budapest direction. The ticket is valid for one month. I do not know if the same applies for trip Sarajevo-Budapest-Sarajevo, as the ZFBIH site only says one way to Budapest is 105.90 KM, but they do not state whether this is one way or return http://www.zfbh.ba/z… . You will start at 6:55 in the morning leaving Sarajevo on brzi voz 258, arriving to Budapest Keleti at 18:05.

2) Budapest to Poland:
Night train, SparNight offer (one way) starts at 29 euros for a second class seat, 39 for a couchette. If that is not available, then a regular, one-month-valid return ticket is 89 euros and you should probably buy it to Lodz directly and if you want you can buy a couchette for 9 euros more. The train leaves Budapest Keleti at 19:55 and arrives to Warsaw at around 7 AM. http://www.mav-start…
So after 24 hours you are in Warsaw and Lodz is just 2 hrs away by bus or train for around 26 polish zlotys.

Air travel:
You are travelling in SUMMER. Either find a cheap airfare from Sarajevo to somewhere near Poland (I am afraid there will be German and Austrian destinations only), or try to contact one of the numerous travel agencies who transport Polish tourists to the Adriatic beaches. Maybe a ticket in their charter flight may get you cheap and fast to Warsaw or maybe even Lodz itself. Try to find flights from Dubrovnik, Split or maybe Tivat to Katowice, Warsaw or Lodz and then use a bus to travel through Herzegovina to one of these airports. There SURE will be at least some Dubrovnik – Warsaw charter flights.

Puno pozdrava u Sarajevo, that beautiful city, from Czech republic.

If you have any questions about Prague or Czech and Slovak republics, ask me.
If you only want to search train or bus connection within Czech&Slovakia and/or to neighboring countries, use www.cp.sk or www.idos.cz search engines. For domestic transport, they also show prices.
