Cinque Terre...Anyone been?
Thu, 01/10/2008 - 19:20
If so, what was it like?
I have dreams of going there! But only if it’s worth it.
I’d be spending only a few days there during my one month Eurotrip in July/August.
Merci!
(Get used to me guys, I’m going to be on this forum a looooot in the next few months

If you’re going to be in Italy July/August, you definitely want to spend some of that time on the coast, and Cinque Terre
though by no means exhaustive of great coastal places in Italyis a great place. Cinque Terre has become more popular with tourists in recent years, so if you don’t mind that, definitely go. IMO, it’s getting harder and harder to find great “secluded” coastal places in Southern Europe during the height of summer (July/August) but the international atmosphere that the tourists bring adds to the appeal for me.By all means go, and if you don’t like it (which I highly doubt), you can always head south, for some great coastal places in Toscana and Lazio regions (Cinque Terre is in Liguria region).

Cinque Terre……..worth it? It was the best part of Italy for me.
Cheap food, great scenery, great hiking and nobody really knows about it. I hope you get to spend at least 2 days there.

One of my favorite stops on my trip, the hike is amazing, the scenery is great and all of the villages are different. The apartments can be nice to stay in and many have kitchens, we cooked pesto and it was probably my best meal in Europe.
Gorgeous! One of the most picturesque places on the globe.
