Croatia visa for Aussies?
Thu, 05/04/2006 - 11:45
I read Aussie’s need a visa to visit croatia but you can get it on arrival – but then I heard you have to prove you have a ticket already to depart the country. Is this true? I am flying into Zagreb to meet some friends who just moved there, then I want to slowly take my time travelling around and then hop over to Slovenia (only a week or so). I don’t know exactly when that day will be and I don’t want to reserve a train/bus ticket yet (cause I’m wingin’ it)…is this rule strictly enforced?
Thanks again for your help!

Lue, I may be able to help you out a bit. As far as I know, Aussies do not need a visa to enter Croatia for up to 90 days. About having to have a ticket departing the country….not quite sure. I am from Canada, and what I have read says the same rule applies to us. I believe it states you need an onward/return transportation ticket OR evidence of funds sufficient to cover the intended stay.
However, I went to Croatia, not knowing this, and never had a problem. So my guess would be no, this rule is not strictly enforced. When I went there, I traveled with two Aussies, and they had no problems either. I have another friend on these boards, intravelmode, and he never had a problem either. So I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Hope that helps.
hi Lue..
NO VISA NEEDED for aussies
they love us!lol
i rang the embassy bout four weeks ago.. twas the friendliest most laid back office ive ever talked to!
the guy said
"U are very welcome to come to our country ..no visa is required!"..
and u only need ur normal aussie licence to drive round too
we are heading off at the end of the month and will be in croatia in june
my travel agent told me the same thing..but he hasnt been very reliable in other matters..thats why i checked myself
as far as i know at the moment …aussies need a visa in romania and in russia of course
probably some other places …and it does change so u have to check with a reliable source each time i guess
have a great time!
Thanks for your help!! I’m not going to worry about it…we’ll see what happens! Happy Travels!
