I’m going to Europe for two and a half to three months. I am taking my digital camera. I already take a TON of photos here in the states (hundreds per month-I’m an amateur photographer) . How should I store my pictures without spending hundreds on extra memory cards? If you can give me more than just one option that would be great.
Thanks!

I’ve got four letters for you…i-P-O-D! You can store both photos and your music on the same machine. Of course, you’ll also need a media reader to download to the iPod. Otherwise, do a search on this site (upper right corner). This question has been asked several times in recent months.

I just had my cards transferred to a CD at a photo shop with "digital service" or at an internet cafe. Most of the time it wasn’t very expensive, generally 3 to 5 euros — low of about $1.40 (including CD) in Ukraine. One place in Romania charged by the image, and that was fairly expensive, maybe $12.

A 40 Gb external storage would cost ~$350-400, I think. Not so cheap, so I’d rely on transferring the images to the CD – places to do this are numerous.

P.S. it seems that digital photography is becoming much more popular just now – a year ago as I reckon there were almost no questions on it, and now it’s several people each month asking.

don’t transfer to an iPOD the battery doesn’t last long enough in the i POD to complete the transfer if you are downloading a lot of photos.

Go into a camera shop and have you images downloaded to CD or DVD for a few dollars, then post it home.

Have the photos burnt to a CD at a photo shop. If you have a low capacity digital memory, buy a bigger one through an electronics outlet (not a camera outlet) on the internet. You will save about 50% in relation to a camera store. Search under your type of storage card + the desired memory size as in "Compact Flash" + " 256" or whatever size you need.
