Do airlines require you to put pack in duffle bag
Tue, 05/23/2006 - 16:36
Yesor no, Also do you thinks its a good idea, or shoulod i say nesscisary, plese reply leaving on saturady may 27th

Not that I know of. I’ve heard of some people putting there pack in another bag (plastic) for protection. I think if you absolutely needed it, the airline would provide it. The straps can easily get caught somewhere. Just make sure that all your straps are in tight. After you tighten the straps, tie them together so that they aren’t hanging everywhere. That’s what i’ve always done, and i’ve never had a problem. My packs been checked soooo many times and it’s always come back fine.
In my experience in Europe, all the UK airports make you check your pack in "oversize" baggage. They say it’s because of the straps. So after you check in you’ve got to drag your pack over to the oversize counter and leave it there. It’s never been far out of the way, so it’s not a huge deal. I’ve encounterd this when I flew out of Edinburgh and Gatwick, but i’ve never seen it in any continental European airport.
Just wrap the straps up and tie them together and you should be fine.
Strangely enough, the only time I’ve had a pack damaged was when I put it inside a duffle. The duffle got absolutely shredded and one of my straps got a little chewed up.
