Don, you a full of very helpful info.
I am travelling to London from Sydney with Singapore Airlines in May for $1699AUD.I have a compulsory stop over in Singapore with accommodation included in the price.
My problem is as follows:
I need to meet up with friends in Rome for our Italian leg.
Ideally, I would like to fly one way from London to Rome.www.ryanair.com can do this for 59 pounds.
BUT, at the completion of our Italian leg,I wanted to fly Venice to Paris (3 nights)and then Paris to London, it can be done but very expensive.
My travel agent (useless) is looking into the staralliance air passes for me but not much luck!
So, I am considering the following:
London to Venice Return with www.go-fly.com for 83 pounds. I will then catch a train to Rome.
Depart Venice for London. Wait 6 hours at Stansted and catch the return flight to Paris on the same day with www.buzzaway.com for 69 pounds.
Would be grateful if you can suggest anything else
