Hi-
I am taking a 2 week trip to Europe in the Fall. I am going to the following cities for sure:

Berlin (4)
Prague (3)
Vienna (3)
Budapest (3)

The numbers after the city are how many days I was planning on being in each. Should I trim any days off of any of them? Some people have suggested less time in Vienna and Budapest.

My second question is this: I am trying to add 2 small cities in between those cities for day trips. I have done some research, but it seems difficult to distinguish between a lot of the smaller cities. Through my research it seems as though the following cities would be possibilities:

Dresden
BRNO
Bratislava
Linz
Krakow

Can anyone recommend one over another? Do you have a different city to recommend? If I went to Krakow, it would probably be for 2 days and I couldn’t do any of the other ones. Otherwise I could do 2 of the other ones for a day.

Any help is appreciated.

Brno prob. isn’t worth it, it’s not the most exciting place in the world.

Bratislava or Krakow would prob. be my choices. Krakow has more to see, in the traditional sense (Auschwitz nearby, Wieleczka Salt Mine, Wawel Hill & Castle, Rynek Glowny, etc) but Bratislava has cool ambience too.

Pick either of those and you should be pretty set!

You’re stretching yourself very thin just with 4 cities.  They are all big cities with a lot of stuff to see and a lot of ground to cover, I prefered to spend about 5 days in each of them and still feel that I haven’t seen everything.  Also, take into account that all of the cities are 6-8 hours apart by train, which accounts for a big part of one day.

Krakow has the most to see out of your other choices, but you really don’t have time to see much and its 7 hours in the wrong direction.  If you feel that you must cram in a 5th country in 2 weeks, visit Bratislava.
