Drinking Age
Thu, 12/29/2005 - 20:33
I am going to Germany, Austira, and Switzerland in June 2006. I am 17 (will turn 18 in July 2006) and am wondering what the drinking age is.
in the European Union it is generally 18, but seeing your so close to that age i would’nt say you’ll have a problem seeing that drinking is a part of most European cultures, it is possible to buy wine and beer at 16 in france, germany and Eastern Europe but not hard spirits. But hey! at least the drinking age isnt 21! I’m 19 and the American laws completely spoiled my tour of the East coast, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Ocean City! not best pleased! we Irish are thirsty people!
have fun!
I think 18 + ,
Both in Germany, Austria and Switzerland legal drinking age is 18.
They didn’t card in any places I went to when I was 19 (and looked alot younger) including the grocery store. I think they just assume if you’re a foreign backpacker you’re old enough. Shouldn’t be a big deal in most places.
