In 1940, the Germans invaded The Netherlands without a declaration of war or warning and after the dust settled, the resistance movement began. While some cooperated with the occupying forces, many resisted and, through intelligence, helped the allied forces liberate the Netherlands and the rest of Europe.
This comprehensive exhibit is brimming with information about those people who took a stand against the Nazi occupiers. The multimedia display is presented in a way that guides visitors through the movement in chronological order from the perspective of various groups and people. This is one of the more important museums in Amsterdam and well worth a visit.
