Egypt - train schedules and Nile Cruise options
Mon, 09/05/2005 - 13:17
Hi All,
I am planning to visit Egypt between Dec 24 and Jan 3. I have a few questions with regard to my trip:
1) Is there a website for train schedules for travel within Egypt? I would appreciate it if you could let me know.
2) Is there a website for ‘Nile Cruise’ options? It would be great if I could get some ideas on ‘non-package-deal’ options for a Nile Cruise between Aswan and Luxor.
Thanks,
Pranav
I’ve said this many times before, but damn am I glad that I went to Egypt with a tour group. Eurotriper Tas used to be a tour guide there with Imaginative Traveller; email him.
I’ve got to back Sailor up on this one. I’ve done a lot of travelling on my own and trust me, you just don’t want to have to deal with it in Egypt. Nothing there is clear cut or simple and allowing a tour agency to do the leg work for you so you can actually enjoy your trip is so worth it.
I used Imaginative Traveller and highly recommend them! I felt the price was fair and the itinerary left plenty of time to be alone and do your own thing outside of the group. I also lucked out with a great guide, Hatem, who could arrange anything in the world for you and even braved the souqs with me to shop for all of my stuff to make sure I wasn’t getting ripped off (or molested by the men which does happen as a western woman). My tour was called "Sailtrek and Sinai" and covered a lot of the main sites. It left out the Western Oases which are amazing and are a MUST. In the future I will def. be using ImTrav for some other trips.
That said…Egypt is amazing and is such a large country with so much more to offer than pyramids and tombs.
