Electric Razor
Tue, 04/26/2005 - 10:06
Hey all, Ive always used an electric razor to shave my face, but Im not sure whether or not bringing it along with me to europe is the greatest idea with both the weight and charging to consider. What have you other guys used on your trips? conventional razors seem like they would also be a pain in the ass with having to carry around a can of shaving cream or gel. let me know what you think

Hehe, just grow a beard
Seriously though, if your electric razor accepts European voltage (e.g. a range of 110V-240V – check the charger) – all you’ll need is an adaptor, and it’s not a big deal to bring it with you. I’m female, so I can’t really say exactly, but it seems to me that it’s no different from travelling wtih a charger for your digital camera or something like that.
You may need a converter. I don’t think many electric shavers are dual voltage — although your rechargable may be. Check the "inputs" to see if it accepts 220 volts. If it accepts 220 you will only need adapter plugs for Europe and UK.
If you need a converter, converter + charger + shaver outweighs shaving cream — particularly since you can easily take a small can and replenish in Europe. How long is your trip? I can’t see shelling out $20 for a converter for 2 weeks…..
You guys are gonna love this.
I was having the same problem, being that I’ve never shaved with a regular shaver before. Having to carry my somewhat expensive electric razor with me, along with the cords, etc seemed too much for me.
So while browsing at the local Walmart over the weekend, I found a "disposable" electric/battery shaver for $4.97. This is what I got:
www.shaveman.com
Powered by widely available AA batteries, not too heavy, somewhat compact, and cheap enough to lose or throw away. Seemed pretty powerful too. Plus it also comes in a ladies version. For $5, can’t beat it.
I was actually looking for another model I saw in a magazine at Walmart called the Titanium Turbo T2 shaver, around $10, supposedly stays sharp for 3 months.
