Europe And Egypt 2 months
Wed, 04/06/2005 - 20:18
Well i am leaving for Europe and Egypt in the middle of May, and i am going for 2 months i can takea suitcase and a carry on. I am just wondering what i should pack ( i guess i should tell u i am a female). OKey so if u know a web page or if u have a sheet can u email me either either. And oh i can’t forget what is the best sleeping bag to bring, a very small one that i ca ditch after the trip.
Me

I never found a use for a sleeping bag during my time in Europe and Egypt. Most hostels won’t allow you to use them because they’re worried you’ll bring in bugs and other outdoor pests.
www.kahunna.net has a couple packing lists on it.
G’day EB,
I am also heading to Egypt and Europe. We are doing a tour in Egypt from June 6th to 18th. I have the lonely planet guide book for Egypt and lots of advice from other female friends who have been there and they say to cover up as much as posible. Western women are huge targets for harassment from the men. My friends suggested big t-shirts to hide any curves and don’t wear shorts or skirts above the knee. The weather will be quite hot so you will want light weight, loose cotton clothing and a hat. My doctor has been to Egypt and was also a great source of information. Make sure you take anti-malarials especially if you are going near the Nile – a mosquito net and mosquito repellant are also highly advised. Also take anti-diarrhoea meds and definitely don’t drink the water. Stick to bottled water from large suppliers or hotels as some small street vendors refill discarded water bottles and re-sell them. If you are travelling alone, my guide book suggests wearing a wedding band as the men are less likely to harass a married woman. Also the men make a lot of sleazy comments and may touch your arms etc in a suggestive manner all of which you are advised to ignore and avoid eye contact as much as possible to avoid any trouble. I hope this advice is helpful to you.

Hey guys,
I’m going to Egypt and Europe as well this summer with two of my friends, and I’m actually originally Egyptian. I’ve been there a bunch of times and understand the culture and country pretty well. If you need any advice feel free to email me (rosana_bishai@hotmail.com). By the way, we’ll be there June 19-26!
Have a great time and stay safe.
P.S. all the things the last person said are true.
