Europe trip Spring 09
Tue, 12/23/2008 - 19:44
Hello everyone i am planning a month trip from March 2nd throught April 2nd i have a budget of 2500 and thats not including my flight or train pass and was wondering what you think of my iteniary and if you think that enough money. And also some advice as to how you think the weather will be.
Leave March 2nd and arrive in paris on the 3rd for 4 days
Then brussels for 2 days
Followed by Amsterdam for 4 days
Berlin 3 days
munich 3 days
vienna 3 day with day trip to budapest
Venice 1 day
Milan 1 day
bologna 1 day
Florence 3 days with day trip to pisa
Rome for 5 days
Fly home on the 2nd
If youve been to any of these place and you can reccomends any places that is a must see is greatly appreciated. as well if you can reccomend any hostels that are clean, good location that has a fun nightlife.

Do you mean Bratislava?, Bratislava(Slovakia) is less than an hour away from Vienna where as Budapest(Hungary) as over 3 hours away via train.
Apart from that you seam to have a well spaced out itinerary giving a good amount of time to the big city’s.
The only advice i will give you is Milan is rather disappointing and not many people will disagree with that. Also one day for Venice is plenty. Also I found Vienna to be disappointing although other’s disagree. I would cut the time down here and spend some time in Prague, Budapest or more time in Bratislava.
Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich and Rome are excellent city’s you will enjoy them and although i have never been I have heard nothing but good things about Florence. Sure you will enjoy the trip.
Athens, Páros, Náxos, Mýkonos, Náxos, Íos, Thíra

Unless you are going to shop, I’d cut out Milan. Nothing to see there, especially if you are only going for 1 day.

ya i know budapest is three hours away. i was thinking if i left vienna early enough i could make it a day trip. And thank you for your advice on Milan, i dont want to waste time on a city not worth visiting.
I would skip Milan and add the extra night to Venice. 1 night is not enough IMO. Yes, you can see the main sights and have a gondola ride in 1 day but Venice’s charm lies away from the tourist traps. Spend an afternoon wandering around back streets observing the locals, you won’t be sorry
I’d skip Brussels and hit either Bruges or Antwerp. To me, both are much more interesting than Brussels. Also, if you like daytrips, Salzburg is an easy one from Munich. One hour each way and the trains run hourly from early am till late pm.
Thank you, i definatly think i will add a day thip to salzburg and possible consider skipping brussels if you think burge would be a better city to visit.
The biggest mistake of first time travellers to Europe is spending too much time in the major Cities. The real europe, the europe you’ll enjoy most is the one found in the small towns and country side. I’d chop Milan and hit the Lake Como instead. Berlin is a government city with little to see other than office buildings and the remnants of the Berlin Wall (I’d skip it). I’d cut Vienna down to two days and spend a day in Salzburg. 5 days in Rome is too much also…3 days max.
