Eurostar, online booking problem

I’m trying to book a round trip ticket online at Eurostar, but I’m told that the credit card owner and the card has to be present when I try to pick up the ticket.

A family member is letting me use their card, but they aren’t going on the trip and I’m not taking their card. Is there some other way to book Eurostar tickets?

It’s really a silly system…

Eurostar has more security than regular trains in Europe, so you might have the same kinds of problems you have buying plane tickets for someone else.  Is there a phone # you can call?
 
You can usually buy Eurostar tickets from the sites that sell railpasses —  although they might be more expensive than buying directly from eurostar.com.  Try www.railpass.com or click “rail” at the top of this page. to see if you have the same kind of credit card issues with them.
