Always try the country’s produce – it is usually 10 times better tasting than the US’s
Manyak
Haggis (Scotland) – don’t miss it.
Iskender Kebap (Turkey) – kebab, yoghurt, tomatoes, flat bread, spectacular.
Grill with hot green chillies (Macedonia) – yes please.
Chicken Kiev (Ukraine) – crap. Avoid.
Obatzda (sp?) – Bavaria – heart-attack inducing, great on pretezels, with beer, delicious.
Naples is famous for their calimari. It looks like onion rings and so light and delicately prepared there.
Paella was invented in Valencia.
Wiener Schnitzel was invented in Vienna, but it tastes great anwhere in Austria.
Eger (Hungary) is known for wine tasting.
I think that the mussles are best in the SOUTH of France.
Italy has the best pizzas (usually flat) and you should try one with unusual topings such as egg.
In addition to the Belgian chocolate, make sure to eat a Belgian waffle.
While in either Belgium or Holland, make sure to get fries with peanut sauce.
In germany – doner kababs, wurst and pretzels with mustard
In turkey – shish kababs
Spain – patatas bravas
Germany – as written previously… doner kebabs

Love Austrian Weinershnitzel. Also have very good garlic cream soups.
Good, cheap eat in Tirol is a schnizel semmel — a small piece of schnizel in a kaiser bun. Goodness!
Switzerland – Raclette and Rosti…gotta love…
Um whoever posted Morcilla and then described it as balck pudding is sorely mistaken….it is blood sausage. In Spain, they use all parts of the pig and when they kill it, the hang it up and slit its throat and drain the bllod and then they take that blood and make Morcilla out of it….it is considered a delicacy in Andalucia. I tried it, not too bad, but not too good either…you can never really get over it when you know what you are eating.
Germany – Everything. (Not good if your vegetarian). Currywurst (I loved their hot dog stands) and in Austria as well.
Austria – Weinerworld. I know it’s not a dish but it’s a fuuny name for a food chain.
Belgium – I was only there for an hour but I highly recommend the Chocolat and banana waffles.
Amsterdam – Heinikin and Skunk. (It’s a traditional dish there)
England – Spotted dick. Again with the funny names for food.
Italy – wood fire oven cooked pizzas. The best ever. If Pizza hut made them like that. the other pizza companies would be out of business.
Netherlands – Rollmops, stroopwafel, Heineken
France – Wine
Italy – Pizza
Swizerland – Chocolate
Spain – Churros con chocolate
Greece – Oh this list can go on and on..
mini gyros
souvlaki
grilled octupus
saganaki
gemista
lamb
….
Munich
– weisswurste
– Leberkase (Bavarian meetloaf)…literally "liver cheese", not for the faint of heart.
– Weissbier
Prague
– Eating out at all the restraunts that don’t serve Czech food
– Pilsner Urequell
– Budvar….the real budweiser
Poland – pierogi, barszcz, golabki
Polish drink – Vodka, Wisniowka( sort of like cherry vodka), Zubrowka, Krupnik
Romania – drink palinca (especially strong in Transylvania)
Carpathian Mountains and Danube Delta
Does anyone know of any food unique to Norway? I was reading someone that mentioned whale and seal. Has anyone tried either?

KOLN – FRIED BLOOD SAUSAGE WITH ONIONS AND MASH / CAUSED A BAD GOUT ATTACK BUT WELL WORTH IT
Pierogis stuffed with meat and downed with a cold glass of Zubrowka vodka mixed with apple juice………..good stuff
radu is right – always drink palinca. Especially the home made variety
A good, cheap dish is the burek in Serbia/Bosnia probably more countries..
