Favourite Travel Websites
Tue, 07/31/2007 - 06:09
I’ve really learnt a lot about european travel just by surfing the net. Besides the well-known sites - like Rick Steve’s - I’ve come across a few other really interesting sites that aren’t that well-known (not to me anyways![]) by by-ways and back-ways. I’ve learnt to put these on my favourites list immediately because often the second time I try to visit these sites they seem to have disappeared! One that I enjoy visiting that has a lot of info is artoftravel.com
What’s your favourite lesser-known european travel website?
www.eurotrek.net
http://www.geobeats….
this one is rapidly expanding with content submitted by visitors to the site who love to travel…
http://www.sites.ecosse.net/traveltheplanet/
Lots of great pics in the gallery… You can send your own pics to the site owner for inclusion…
www.backpackeuropeon…
www.virtualtourist.c…
www.bootsnall.com
maybe it’s not so little known but

http://www.travelpod.com/
peace
http://www.ivebeenthere.co.uk/
http://www.trekearth.com/
Might want to change that one to www.trekearth.com, although its mostly just a photo site, but a very worthwhile photo site.
Here is a good site for those researching a trip to Armenia: www.armeniapedia.org
Ooopsie! [8|] Thanks for pointing it out, Rob.
It’s not just the photos – people quite often post descriptions and explanations that offer a real insight into each place. I’ve found out a lot of interesting things from browsing through trekearth.
Besides our Eurotrip, I’m liking www.gadling.com lately.
that’s not a real travel website, plus it gets bugger all traffic. Lonely Planet is probably the best and if you want a really good travel forum the thorntree is hard to beat.
who wants a real travel site anyway? Bunch a narcisisstic knobs boring everyone with every minute detail of their lives or noobs and their ‘where should i go’ threads.
apart from the pub have you read any of the other eurotrek forums lately, same sort of stuff that you mentioned, at least on lonely planet you get alot more respondents and a greater variety of answers than you get at Eurotrek,
the pub’s where all the relevant stuff is anyway
TravelIndependent.info is one of the best travel websites I have seen in terms of independent travel. Although they don’t have a forum or much information about Europe, for anything such as Asia, South America, Australia, and even the Middle East, it is loaded with info. Plus, their information about packing light and what to pack is still relevant for those going to Europe. I highly recommend people to visit this site.
This thread is a great resource, Kudos and Thanks!
