First time.
Mon, 08/27/2012 - 22:02
Hi everyone,
This will be my first time and my husbands going over seas.
Are musts are:
London
Paris
Amsterdam
Krakow
Venice.
WE are thinking about
Rome
Greece
monoco
but im not sure where else.
We are looking at going for around a month. nothing less but could go for a few more days.
I am leaving from Australia with $7000 for 38 days
London, Paris, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monte-Carlo, Venice, Florence, Rome, Athens, Santorini, Amsterdam, Berlin, Amsterdam
London, Paris, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monte-Carlo, Venice, Florence, Rome, Athens, Santorini, Amsterdam, Berlin, Amsterdam
I have been to a wonderful city Lisbon, you won’t believe it but i really won it on the radio)))although it was just for 5 days i felt absolutely incredible, They provided me with one of the top Portuguese tours: i went to Lisbon, Porto and best place in the world madeira. Madeira was probably the best place for me as I’m a great fan of eco-tourism)))anyway, if anyone is interested i can provide you with info about cheap accomodation, food etc)))
In my opinion, all the places you list (except Kracow, which I disclaim any opinion on since I haven’t yet been there, Monoco, and Venice (although we spent a week in Venice and loved it) warrant at least a week, some warrant more.
I think most first time visitors need time to settle into a place and investigate it, especially as you are not experienced in moving from place to place, and culture to culture. Most first time visitors see how much there is to see, and in an attempt to get all of it, don’t really get any of it.
For a first visit, I would suggest flying into London and spending a week there, then taking a high speed train to Amsterdam for a week, then to Paris for a week, then to Venice, Florence, or Rome for a week, and fly home from there. My suggestion is colored by my desire to see a lot of great art, so consider that in making your plans.
Madrid, Toledo
Dublin, Dingle, Dublin
Bruges, Ardennes, Bastogne, Brussels
London
Charleville-Mézières, Reims
Alrighty so i should plan more time..
we were thinking of cutting out Krakow and just go into Berlin
We were also thinking of adding in Santorini for about 4-5 days flying in from Athens and then flying from Athens up to Amsterdam there IS a few i could cut out most of the smaller ones that we could save for next time. Im not 100% sold on london, so maybe i can save that for if we have time at the end.
Paris, Venice, Rome, Athens, Santorini, Amsterdam (fly in train to), Berlin, Amsterdam
So in thinking about a week each i would need about 5 weeks give or take?
London, Paris, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monte-Carlo, Venice, Florence, Rome, Athens, Santorini, Amsterdam, Berlin, Amsterdam
1. London’s way up on my list of great cities to visit and it’s the absolute last place I’d recommend that a first-timer cut. Tons of stuff to see and do there plus a couple of dozen easy and interesting day trips. London is just over 2 hours from Paris on Eurostar (city center to city center) — about 3 hours when you add in the 45 minute advance check-in, so it’s actually the fastest and easiest hop in your itinerary.
2. Spend some time working out the logistics of getting to/from and around Greece. You often lose a full day (even flying takes over 5 hours when you include time to get to/from airports and 2 hour check-in time and any day time flight is likely to kill the whole day for sight-seeing) getting to Athens, another day getting to and from Santorini, and a 3 rd getting from Athens to your next destination. I strongly recommend saving Greece for a future trip when you can spend at least a week, preferably 2 so you can visit a second island.
I’d skip Monaco unless you really, really want to see it. And if you do I’d spend a few days on the riviera and stay somewhere besides Monaco.
yeah im not good at knowing how long it takes to fly places and waiting at places to fly lol. only ever flown in aus twice.
Monaco is not a must so i don’t mind cutting that out.. well i don’t mind cutting all three of those out
(Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monte-Carlo)
We really want to go to santorini. but then i also like the idea of spending more time in just those three islands. but its really up there with Paris and Rome.
Would things work a bit better if we went pairs (For a week)day trips to London Amsterdam (for about 5 days) Berlin (3-4 days) Venice (4-5 days) Rome(5-6 days) Athens (3days) Then santorini (7 days) then fly home from athens, would that maybe make things work a little bit better?
40 days in total not counting travel??
London, Paris, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monte-Carlo, Venice, Florence, Rome, Athens, Santorini, Amsterdam, Berlin, Amsterdam
The time you now have allotted yourselves makes the trip look feasible.
I agree about cutting Monaco.
Not sure what you mean about “just those three islands,” are you talking about Greek islands, or the towns of Saint Tropez, Cannes, Monte Carlo?I would not spend more than 2 days in Venice, 2 days in Athens, and 3 days on Santorini, but that’s just me.
i think you are stock in Europe, pay a little bit more and go to the most charming country in the world-Argentina)it is more than you can ever expect. Just try UNESCO Spots in Argentina you will find everrything starting with deserted caves with paintings of 9 000 years and ending with glacier lakes and Iguassu waterfall)the country is truly worth visiting)))
