how long do you think $2500 will last me????
remember i will be living cheap with most money being allocated for a bit of partying and nightlife

if you stretch it out, 6-7 weeks maybe? depends on where you are going. does this include airfare?

does not include airfare

will you have pre-purchased your railpass…or are you going to be taking money out of the 2500 for that?

i suggest you going across the europe during summer
it’s easier to survive with less money
tent, hitch-hiking, washing at the gas station
all europe you can see in such way
it might be not so safe, but this is an adventure!
is not a tale, I know the person who manage it!

and after my final exams I’m planning to go to CApe Rocca with 200-300 euros.

Just think about it like this…you’ll probably spend like 23 bucks a day on accomodation…if you stay more in the east…that can go down significantly…but 23 there..another 5 for metro/bus….maybe 10 for museums or attractions…thats 38…then maybe 15 for food…thats 53…then misc bullshit add another 5….thats 58…then if you drink at night…and being as how you have dubbed yourself &quotarty boy" you better be planning for that haha….you can add liquor costs…I’d guestimate 70 bucks a day for a good time w/ ample booze…..thats like 5 weeks w/ the 2500 bucks…but I’d actually think a little longer…because there will be days where you are having a hangover and wont be spending on alcohol…so…w/ that saved $$$…it’ll extend your dough a bit more.

There’ll be days where all this changes…so I’m just giving a sample….like on some days, you’ll just walk a bunch…might not pay to get in anywhere…as you’ll just be appreciating the city….then there are days where there are certain places that are expensive getting into…or when you buy that expensive meal…or whatever…if you say where you’re going, I can get a better understanding for what you’ll spend….plus, indicate whether you are cooking your own food or buying….if you cook your own (which I never did) that’ll reduce expenditures…

i love ppl who mix countries and cities together, london is expensive, but yea
id say about 5 weeks, tho drinking will kill your budget, buying from a liquor shop will cut the cost.

Remember that it’s illegal to drink and drive…no matter what the vehicle is.

What I suggest if you want to party:

Drink box wine. You’ll be able to get like 4 liters of wine cheap, and it will last. Also, keep a staple backpacker’s diet in your daypack (bread, cheese, meat, and mustard) And no, I’ve found that mustard doesn’t go bad in your pack. I made some last weeks without putting it in the fridge.

If I were you I’d keep hitting up these forums and message boards on the Internet, and try to talk with people you know who have backpacked before. There are some great travel books out there with advice and stuff. Go to www.europeanpilgrima… and check out their book, it is full of the things you’d like to know.

I have a friend who lasted 2 months on $5000 Canadian, but that included his flight and train travel.

Most importantly, go to Eastern Europe, you’ll last much longer there and get more bang for your buck. Western Europe is expensive.

Have fun!
