A friend and I are planning a backpacking trip through France and Italy this Fall. On one leg of the trip, we will be traveling from Nice to Rome. I would like to visit Pisa and Florence as well. My question is would it be better to travel directly from Nice to Rome and then do a day trip to Florence and Pisa? Or would it be better to just spend an entire day between Pisa and Florence in between Nice and Pisa? Any suggestions?

I’d highly recommend traveling Nice—> Florence, and stay in Florence for 2-3 nights and daytrip to Pisa from Florence. While Pisa can easily be done in a half day, Florence as a day trip would be really exhausting because there’s so much to see and do. And it’s really nice at night as well, so I would definitely recommend staying over.

I am leaving from Boston, MA with $5000 for 47 days

Why rush all the way back to Paris to catch your plan home? Why not just depart from Milan?
