FRA to south america
Sun, 10/09/2005 - 09:58
I know, this isn’t in Europe but I was hoping some of ya’ll might have some advice for buying tix, July 14 to Sep 14 2006, can land in Caracas or Lima or BsAs, would love an open jaw. What price would you jump at?
I’m not very familiar with SA airfares, but I’d probably jump at anything under 500 r/t.
Try www.itasoftware.com —login as guest
select month-long search
From: FRA
To: CCS;BUE;LIM
Between: July 1 and 30 days after
staying: about 2 months
Also try www.kelkoo.de —under Reisen click "flüge".
This searches several sources simultaneously. Sort by lowest price first by clicking "Gesamt" after it finishes.
www.travelprice.be might also have something
But the best price could come from watching the newspaper. Figure out which day has the travel advertising supplement (often Sunday) and ring some agencies that are advertising good prices to SA.
the cheapest flights that I’ve been able to find are almost a thousand euro or more! I figure I should book as soon as possible but I need to find something for 850 or less!
depending on where you are in France, it might be savvy to go to Spain and fly with Iberia or Air Madrid
sorry Andrew, I meant FRAnkfurt as the 3-letter code for the airport but flying to Madrid may be the best bet anyway!
This is true. I tried several cities for you with ITA—like AMS, LON, MAD, BCN, LIS, and PAR—which you could easily and cheaply get to from Frankfurt. There’s a deal in the 660 range out of MAD or BCN that stops at Tenerife and onward to CCS.
Might also try the "Hot Deals" posted by travel agencies at www.etn.nl
The cheapest I could find with ITA was 860 but also, how do you buy the tickets? I’m technically searching for tix that aren’t "sellable" yet, because we’d be coming back on the 20th of September but it says to call Iberia? Would they sell me those tix?
Using ITAsoftware (see above) it shows 682 USD r/t total BCN-EZE (Buenos Aires) on charter flight NM1213 via TFN. This for departures July 3, 10, or 17 with a 2 month stay. The flight is operated by Mount Cook Group, a subsidiary of Air New Zealand.
yeah, but Don, is it actually possible to buy tickets after say, Sep 7th? I keep getting on most websites that it is a 330 days in the future type of thing. I found the fare that you showed, realized I couldn’t leave until July 20th the earliest (21st is best!) and found it for 713bucks per person but I had to call a travel agent in the STates to make the booking. I’m not sure what to do now!
I wouldn’t worry. I doubt (although I have no way to verify or statistically predict ) that starting precisely 330 days in advance, all possible seats will be sold out on these flights. Personally, I’d wait and track fares for a few months at least. But like I said, I really don’t follow SA fares and can only base what I’d do on flexibility and resourcefulness.
I have a chance via the airline itself to get a fare for 750 bucks (but she could only look as far as sep 7th) and from a german rep she said she could book the tix, strangely enough, but it was 750euro. That’s a huge difference! I found this 630 dollar fare and wrote them an email asking for it.
I think this particular destination is expensive immediately, unlike europe/america routes on this thread. I’ll keep you updated!
Don,
do you have a number for Mount Cook Group? I couldn’t find one by simple search on the internet!
I don’t offhand, but maybe try contacting them via parent company www.airnz.com
I called Air New Zealand and they claimed not to have the number. Very strange circumstances. Air Madrid is looking good now but I still need to wait about 10 days to buy them online or via telephone.
hey don,
you ready to take another crack at it?
jul 27/28/29 madrid/frankfurt/amsterdam/paris/rome to BUENOS AIRES
sep 22/23/24 and back
the cheapest I’ve been finding is about 850euro, too much! I checked on mount cook and it is really an Air Madrid flight number and times but they didn’t have that fare available.
help!
Try ITA, Kelkoo, Travelocity flex date search, and maybe Opodo.de. Oh, and I’ve noticed AMS highlighting really good fares from their homepage, see www.schiphol.nl —(I don’t recall if Buenos Aires was on last I checked).
I think I can get them for 750US. Should I take it?
