I’m going to Italy, France, and the UK in 2 weeks. I’ll be spending 4 of them in a hotel in Pescara (Naples, Milan, ?? on weekends… anywhere that I’m not going for the real backpacking adventure) for a study abroad program, then will be backpacking from Rome to Florence to Cinque Terre, to Venice. We will be flying out of Venice to Paris, then from Paris to London.
I don’t know what the weather is like in all of those places in July and August, but I am going to assume hot. Are the temperatures going to be greatly varied? If so I would like to know how to pack light for the 6 weeks.
I bought a netbook for my schooling, I would rather lose that than my Macbook! I’m just wondering what I should do for the real book situation? I’m doing an independent study, so these can’t be avoided. Odds are that they are going to be heavy. Is there anyway I can send them home after the session is over, possibly the netbook too? Is it a good idea to keep the netbook with me?
Thanks,
Jaclyn

Here my backpacking checklist. It’s a big list I filled during the years, and I clearly don’t take all of that staff with me each time! It is just to be sure I don’t forget anything.
