French Guiana
Thu, 02/01/2007 - 15:38
I just recently finished reading the book “Papillon” by Henri Charriere. Most people have seen the movie Papillon with Steve Mcqueen. but anyways I was wondering if anyone has ever gone to any of the Guianas or anywhere in the northern part of South America? I’d really like to go down there for a week and see the ruins of the old penal colony Papillon stayed at but I don’t know if it is worth it. ????
I’ve read books and seen movies and slide shows about my hero, Mark Plotkin, who has done some incredible things within the area. The impression I get is that its pretty safe, but not really any tourism infastructure, except maybe for the scientific community.
