Full moon party, Koh Phangan, Thailand
Fri, 05/20/2005 - 10:20
I really fancy going next year and i know that there is a full moon party each month, plus other parties such as the black moon party etc.
Anyone that has been, please let me know what month they went, what they thought etc.
I would imagine that New Year there would be pretty awesome too!
Anyone else that fancies going, check out the link

Does anyone know of any website/company that offers cheap flights (from UK) to Thailand?? (Esp Bangkok)
Cheers
i was there new years 2004. it was fun in that there was dancing, cheap drinks, and tons of people. but it draws a really weird "glowstick" crowd, if you know what i mean. and a lot of washed up expats who creeped me out. also, it was very meat markety, and i had men grabbing me inappropriately, even though i was with my boyfriend. we ended up skipping the full moon party which was about a week later that year, cause the whole thing was too much. but its definitely an "experience" and can be a good time. my advice though, would be to get a room somewhere other than hat rin at that time, and just taxi it in. that way the party ends when you want it to end, and not when some crazy ravers finally give up at 5am.
Actually, I had a completely different experience at the Full Moon Party. I’m not into the Rave scene at all. I think Full Moon is what you make it. I actually stayed in Hat Rin as well. But I stayed on the other beach….sunset beach instead of sunrise beach. It was close enough to walk to the party but far enough away to be away from the noise and chaos.
I was there in November 2003 and I had a fantastic time. I arrived in Hat Rin about 5 days before the actual Full Moon Party so we actually ended up partying on the beach for several nights leading up to the party….and then of course topped it all off with the Full Moon Party. We left a day after the Full Moon party…went to Koh Samui to dry out for a few days!!
Seriously, it’s on of life’s experiences. One of those things you just gotta try at least once. Go, have a good time, make up your own mind about what it’s all about…..life is what YOU make it.
I will tell you this, ever since that party, not a full moon passes that I don’t get a little nostalgic to be dancing on a beach somewhere!
Thanks for the tips Charmaine and Rocket.
Am a bit preturbed about the unwanted attention, but I’m a big girl now and can handle myself, I think. Failing that, just the sight of my 6 foot 4 boyfriend would probably put off most slimeballs!
I’m glad you said that Sunset beach is within walking distance, Rocket – that would be where i would prefer to stay, looking at the accomadation offered.
It will definately be on our list of life’s to-do’s and i think that we will try and get out there next year
Thanks again
