Ghana, Africa
Sat, 05/21/2005 - 21:52
I am looking for a cheaper (!) flight to Ghana, Africa from vancouver, bc or Seattle in september for about a month. So far I haven’t found anything cheaper than $4500. Where are some good places to look. Expedia has never even heard of Ghana.
Thanks a lot,
Elana
Looking forward to Israel, Egypt, Jordan and India in the fall!!
just off the top of my head I imagine you’d have to transfer somewhere anyways, why not look into flights to lagos, casablanca or even paris and see if you can string together some flights.
This is a wild guess, but there are alot of Ghanaians in the UK (old colony) – maybe a flight via London??
I second the London flight recommendation. I have Ghanese friends who travel via London all the time, though I’m not sure what travel agency they use. You might also try googling for the webpages of travel agencies in African neighborhoods in the US or UK. Sometimes you can get really cheap deals by going through ethnic travel agencies. You might also give STA travel a ring — they seem all right with the unusual destinations.
The destination is Accra, not Ghana. As for flying the E-W axis in Africa, don’t do it (for example from Lagos or Kenya). These are substandard aircraft that don’t have to comply with EU or US safety regs. Take flights that originate or land in the US or the EU only.
