Hello! Not too long ago I asked for some help on planning my trip. After all the help and some planning, I got my ticket and now am a step closer. I wanted to show you guys my Eurotrip and plan to see if everything seems right. Here’s a link to the Eurotrip I planned out.. http://www.eurotrip….

1. We will arrive in London at 11AM on the 29th of June.
1A. We stay in London for three nights.
2. We leave London for Amsterdam on the morning of July 2nd using Eurostar.
2A. We stay in Amsterdam for thee night.
3. We leave Amsterdam for Berlin on the morning of July 5th using our Eurail pass (which uses one day of the pass, and leave us with 4 remaining).
3A. We stay in Berlin for three nights.
4. In Berlin we buy a one-way ticket to Prague and leave for Prague on the morning of July the 5th.
4A. We stay in Prague for three nights.
5. In Prague we buy a one-way ticket to Paris and leave for Paris on the morning of July the 11th.
5A. We stay in Paris for three nights.
6. On the morning of July the 14th we leave for London using Eurostar.
6A. We stay in London until July the 15th, when we get on a plane back home @8PM.

Questions..
7. Is a ticket from Berlin to Prague/Prague to Paris really only $90?
8. Since we’re only using the Eurail pass once, should we just buy point to point tickets instead?
9. I’ve read that it makes more sense to fly from Prague to Paris. What do you guys think?

I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could try to answer my questions or would just give me any suggestions/opinions of my trip, or tell me if anything looks off. Thanks!

I think you’ve misunderstood. I think the planner is recommending that you use a day of your pass for the portion of the ticket from Berlin to the German border and a day of your pass for the portion from the Czech border to Paris. You would only buy point to point tickets for the portions within Czech Republic. However, $90 seems high for that, so exactly which pass is recommended?

Why are you taking the train from Prague to Paris? That doesn’t sound like fun to me.

So you’re saying the planner is suggesting that I get off on the German border, get tickets there to get to Prague. Then from Prague I get tickets to the Czech border and from there use the Eurail pass?

And it just says $90 for the for point to point tickets on the planner. Doesn’t get any more specific then that.

You don’t have to get off the train. You just have to buy the appropriate ticket. Coming from Berlin, the border crossing is Schöna. You buy a ticket at the train station in Berlin for Schona to Prague and use your railpass from Berlin to Schona. On the train, you show the conductor your pass and the ticket.

IMO, the “best” (overnight train with only one connection) routing for Prague to Paris is via Berlin, so you’ll cross at Schona again on that trip. I’d buy round trip Schona/Prague at the station in Berlin. The other options require at least 2 connections. Most involve a leg by bus and require spending the entire day on the train. Personally, I’d be looking for a cheap flight. That will change the railpass calculation and you may be better off just buying point to point tickets.

Thanks for your replies Oldlady, they’re greatly appreciated. I went ahead and updated the Europlanner to see what kind of pass it would suggest. Instead of the 3 country pass I got the “Eurail Benelux – Germany 5 Day 2nd Class Youth FlexiPass”. Which is $40 cheaper, also if I choose to travel by air then would it make more sense to go from Prague back to Berlin and then fly off to Paris from there? Or directly from Prague to Paris? And what would be the best airline for either? Thanks for all you help by the way.

Price the flights, using Don’s links and other tips from the “cheap flights” forum. 1st choice would definitely be direct from Prague to Paris. I’d only look at other options (like train to Berlin and fly from there) if I couldn’t find a reasonably priced fare from Prague to Paris.
