A good read....

Hey everyone,
Not sure where I should post this, but it looks like ‘Packing’ makes the most sense.
I am hoping some of you will be able to recommend a book (or books) that tell good stories about traveling, backpacking, anything Europe. For example, I have read Hemingway’s ‘The Sun Also Rises’ so many times. That is the type of book I am looking for, though. I want a book that just tells a good story about traveling in Europe or being on a plane/train/bus or something backpackers (like myself) can relate to. Maybe you know of a book about two people meeting in Europe and getting to know one another (like the movie ‘Before Sunrise’).
I will be spending tons of time in airports and on planes in the next week and need books to get me through the time.
Hope you have some good recommendations.
Happy Trails,
Rick
I am thinking of a book right now about a guy who attempts to commit suicide by drinking absinthe. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Clunker. I did a search of that sort, but that thread did not come up. Much appreciated.
Cheers.
Rick…
Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe by Bill Bryson is a great read. It doesn’t have your ‘Before Sunrise’ theme…yet it is hilarious. I just finished reading it, could barely put it down.
Check it out. Definitely worth your while.

I would recommend The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles for some good travel reading. I was completely riveted by this novel — starts a little slowly but after a little character development you will be taken on a journey into the desert of Northern Africa and into the psyche of these characters that you will not soon forget…

P.S. Don’t let the cheesy cover put you off.
