Hello!
I just got back from Rome and feel like telling the whole world how beautiful and worth the place is. I stayed at a very nice hotel called "des artistes" for only 75 Euro but the place was very clean, staff very friendly and the place very luxurious, on top of that, it’s centric and they give you all the information you may need to get tours throughout the city and surrounding areas. You gotta try it.

Glad you had a good time
I wasn’t fond of Rome myself and left after two days. The antiquities were really cool, I’ll give it that, but the city itself I felt was horrible. Too much crime, too little subway system (the buses weren’t that much better) and every corner I turned there was another horrible smell . Even more so than NYC (which I adore). That’s just my opinion I suppose.

What time of year were you there, Buckley (and what year)?

I had a fabulous time just this January. I have heard of various crime horror stories, and the smells are bound to be bad in a hot summer.

This post sounds suspiciously like an ad.

Besides, I doubt too many Eurotrippers would pay 75 euros a night to stay anywhere. (Except that girl in the Paris thread whose boyfriend booked a hotel for $300 a night, perhaps).

Oh shut it ICBites….. Segacs is just speaking her mind….which he/she is more than entitled to do…..And I can certainly see why you might think the OP is an ad, it is written odd

Actually Des Artistes (Hostel) has some aamzing rates. I just got a private double room for 2 people for $60 all in in August, USD. That’s a really good rate, given the prices of other competing places, Beehive for example is 70 EURO for two in a private!

Thanks nenakash!

Thanks, Auher.

For the record, I’m a "she".

And yeah, 60 euros for a private double isn’t bad for a decently nice place in Rome. I just get suspicious when someone registers and only has one post and it’s promoting a certain hotel or tour or something.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed, nena. And I hope you have fun on your trip Auher.

Hmmm, in my experience, people who post excessively about getting laid usually do so because they aren’t.

Hit a little close to home there, IC?

nenakash,

Admit it, you are an employee (most likely owner). Your post begins to tell us how great Rome is, but then describes the hotel as if you were selling it to us over the travel agent’s desk. Give us some credit…

I absolutely love Rome. The food, people, ambience.

BTW I’ve stayed a night at Artistes. Not the hotel part but the hostel section. It was very good. I moved on to Pop Inn, which was like a family and the coolest hostel experience ever. If I didnt like Pop Inn so much…I’d have stayed at Des Artistes…no complaints about it whatsoever…in fact I met a few people there I still talk to..and they have a nice rooftop open air terrace/lounge.

Hah you guys are ridiculous Smile!!!!

Just like Segacs says, Peace. No need for any bantering here. But I’m starting to think she is right with the whole OP being an ad. Cause he/she hasn’t posted again since then……a bit odd maybe. Oh well…I’m happy with the rate I got there…….just for one night anyhow……most of my trip will be spent in Bosnia, Croatia & Montenegro, just have that stupid flight out of Rome!!!

ICBitess…..are you an alter, or a truly new poster?? (like this question would be answered truly, why the hell do I even bother to ask).

I was there in Jan of last year and it still smelled. To top it off, I got jumped by a group of kids (12-13yrs old perhaps) who tried getting into my pockets/backpack, but I had nothing on me. I also saw a few well rummaged through backpacks on the ground on various back streets.
I too stayed at the Pop Inn and really enjoyed it. 75 euro for a room is too steep for me, since I only sleep there

I have never thought that Rome is dengerous. What crime!!!
I was in other cities where you really feel unsafe.
What I do not like about Rome is that there are too many people but that is me since I am from the countryside I am not used to share so little space with so many people.
But please Rome is not unsafe apart from some people who try to grab your wallet in the mentro, but that can happen just if you are naive.

When I went to Rome I thought it was fantastic. We walked to everything except the Colloseum, and it was one of the most memorable times of my life. I didnt smell anything bad and I didnt see/hear/experience any crime. The Vatican City was equally as good. Their museum is amazing. So much wealth!
