Great Wall of China
Wed, 03/02/2005 - 16:41
Hi,
I will be in Beijing for 7 days this May/June 2005 and will be looking to see the great one from one of the handfull of locations it can be accessed from. I know Badaling is very touristy, but nice and built-up. However, I’d like to go to something a bit more authentic. My ideas were to either go to Simitai or Huanghua Great Wall. I understand both are steep and overgrown with an amount of vegitation but they sound very exciting and authentic. I’ve even heard of people camping out on the great wall at Huanghua.
If anyone has been to any of these great walls sites or knows anything about them or can offer a recommendation it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Riad

Fro questions on Great Wall in China, go to Fodor’s Asia Forum http://www.fodors.co…
Do a search of Great Wall or Simitai. There are a lot of useful information you need, especially for those less popular sections like Simitai and Jinshanling. In particular http://www.fodors.co…
You do know this is the Favorite Places for Europe, right? Try the Rest of the World forum.
I can recommend a really good Chinese restaurant in Paris’ 15th arrondissement.

What an idiot!
Everybody knows the Great Wall is in Japan… you can see it from the Martian surface, Yuri Gagarin seen it on one of the Gemini missions to the moon!
This really should be in the Rest of the World Forum. Oh and do a search in that section, there has been a lot of info posted about China.
There are a lot more places you can visit in china.
Enjoy your visit in China.
