I am thinking of going to Guatemala in 2 weeks with my sister. I have read mixed comments about safety and wanted to know how bad it really is other the normal stuff that happens in the US. I have read some stuff about armed robbery in Tikal that somewhat concerns me. I am especially interested in the Lago Atitlan towns. I realize that some information may be exaggerated, for example I went to Panama last year and although I had read some bad stuff about safety it ended up feeling safe.
