Halp :'( Rome -> Barca via train
Sat, 03/26/2011 - 17:39
What is the best train route to go from Rome to Barcelona? I kinda want to go overnight so we lose as little time as possible in either city, so what is the best course of action. Thanks
I am leaving from San Francisco, CA, USA and traveling for 21 days
Frankfurt, Venice, Florence, Rome, Monaco, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich

Regardless of which train route you choose you will lose time because it’s at least 16-17 hours. Why not fly? There are some cheap morning flight options that will allow you to lose very little time. I’ve landed in Barcelona and been in the city center in less than an hour.
Augustin’s right, overnight train is really the only option by train, and the ride is long enough that you mess up the better part of a day in addition to the overnight segment. Overnight ferry (probably to Genoa, then train to Rome) is another option, but it will probably mess of most of 1 and perhaps 2 days in addition to the overnight. Flight is probably the best option.
http://www.skyscanne… Ryanair on Ciampino>BCN $34+tax advance purchase June (I guessed your month). Mind their fees! BCN Airport to central Barcelona very easy with airport train to Sants station.
