An anecdote:
I was at work and this lady came up to the cash register and was going to pay when she realized that she had her daughters ATM card. I guess her daughter left for Peru that morning. When I asked if her daughter had travlers checks or a charge cards she said no. I really couldn’t belive what I was hearing. How could someone leave the country with only one way to get cash (an ATM card). I really felt sorry for the poor girl who would be stranded without cash. It also turns out that her mom didn’t know how to get ahold of her. The moral of the story: have a back up plan if your money/card gets lost or stolen (or left at home) and always let mommy know where she can reach you.

So here’s my question…what do you do if for some reason you are stranded in another country without any money?

Thanks,
Heather
