I’m thinking of heading to Waikik for a few days at the end of January and bringing along a first time hosteller. I’ve stayed at the HI-Waikiki years ago, but there are other independent hostels that sound far more interesting…

Has anyone been to any Oahu hostels in the past year or so? Anyone ever stayed at the Polynesian Beach Club? Any other hostel suggestions?

I know I can probably get a decent rate at the Outrigger properties, but I really want my friend to experience the hostel life.

Also, we’re going standby, and other islands aren’t really an option. (well Maui maybe, but it’ll be tough) Since it is my friend’s first time, I think seeing Pearl Harbor would be a good experience, and I still haven’t seen the Punchbowl.
