can anyone find anything cheaper than $500. from SFO to LHR, or any other european city leaving from 3/17-4/20 and only a week there.

I don’t see anything right now.  I’d definitely keep an eye out for fares to both Frankfurt and Munich as well. I’ve seen a lot of sub-$500 fares to those cities out of SFO in the last year.

I would search those fares every couple of days or so, usually (in the low season), a month or two before departure, the prices will start to jump up and down before they go up and stay up.  That is usually when they will reach their lowest.  You might also try: LGW, BER, AMS, PAR

There’s also a $436 fare for Oakland to Munich, but it’s got a stop each way.   I’d rather pay the $60 and fly non-stop.

I just had a very quick look on American Airlines with a dep date of Feb 23rd, and found a fare as low as $402 (taxes will be extra, and always watch for added fees/taxes when you try to compare fares).
Aer Lingus often has low fares from LAX, but they don’t have flights every day. They’ll quote prices from SFO, and that will involve a flight from SFO to LAX on AA. If you look at that option, check to see if it might be cheaper to fly to LAX fom OAK on SW.

For Feb. 24 – March 4, you can get $491 for SFO-MUC nonstop on an United/Lufthansa ticket, according to ITASoftware.com .

Searching for that ITA fare that Traveler found, the best I could find was $496 on Expedia.
