help me to plan-out tranport ideas
Wed, 03/17/2010 - 18:19
hi,
i was hoping someone could help me plan out what kind of transport should i take during my trip, i had been searching for the best and suitable way but turn out at the end, my mind was mix like a salad. there are different opinions as i read more.
i’ll b starting/ending my journey from either venice/ krakow. the countries which i would like to go are :
1) amsterdam
2) prague
3)edinburgh (or should i change it with copanhagen?)
4. i need ideas…
date of travelling : 4th JULY – 14 JULY. approximately 10 1/2 days.
thanx a lot.
theres 4 of us , age around 24-25 + my mom : 53 years old.
thanx a lot. really need ASAp replies. concerned about the increasing tickets price…
I am leaving from venice with $1520 for 11 days
Venice, Prague, Amsterdam, Kraków
Venice, Prague, Amsterdam, Kraków
10 1/2 days = about 3 cities, MAYBE 4 if they’re reasonably close together. Venice or Krakow plus Amsterdam, Prague and Edinburgh won’t be much fun. You’d pretty much have to fly and a good portion of four of your days will be spent on buses going to the airports, in airports, on airplanes and on buses getting into town from the airport. I strongly suggest re-thinking this to pick cities that are closer together.
I’d pick Edinburgh over Copenhagen (others may disagree). Both are expensive destinations but Edinburgh will be slightly cheaper and I think it’s more interesting.
I would leave Edinburgh out of this trip, it’s too much out of the way, and you already have a tight schedule. Also Venice & Krakow are both great towns (although I haven’t been in Krakow myself), so you could spend some time there as well. That leaves about 8 days for Amsterdam and Prague.
So if you’re travelling by train you could do some city in between as well. (Munich, Berlin, Rothenburg, Rhein/ Moesel area)
thnx for the replies, if that is so..
so if i’ll b @ venice(OF KRAKOW) on 4thJULY…
head to —-> PRAGUE (1 day)
then… AMSTERDAM (4 days?, is it too much?)
… then back to krakow?(venice?) .. lets say on 12th july.
what other cities i can visit along the journey?
thnx. i ‘m sooo eager to buy the tickets! (but i’m all mix up now)
HELPPPPPP ! ! !
the trip shud b by train? or cheap flights?? which is better?
Venice, Prague, Amsterdam, Kraków
Think first what you want to do and see!
And look for cheap tickets yes. Most legs can be done by train.
So you will fly into Krakow and back via Venice? Or do you have to choose one?
If you’d fly to and from krakow you could do:
Krakow (1 night)- Prague (3 nights) – Munich (2 nights) – Amsterdam (3 nights) —-> by train
and fly back from Amsterdam to Krakow (or Eindhoven to Wroclaw= cheaper)
i wana feel the scenery, nature, n culture.
i’ll start my journey either from venice or krakow,… and back to either venice or krakow..
so it’l; b like. eg : start : VENICE.. back ..KRAKOW.
or eg : start : KRAKOW … bck VENICE.
Venice, Prague, Amsterdam, Kraków
If you are starting in one of these two places and you need to return within ten days I would stay relatively close to that city. If I had to pick four cities in the area would be Krakow-Prague-Munich-Vienna. To me Vienna and Austria as a whole had some of the most beautiful scenery and culture I saw in Europe. If you want to do something along to way for your mom, stop in Salzburg, its where the Sound of Music was made, there all kinds of tours and stuff, and it is absolutely beautiful. Hope I helped.
Nuremberg, Berlin, Vienna, Munich, Bratislava, Budapest, Dublin
i viewed vienna and munich but both cities looked much alike prague n krakow, thus i add amsterdam coz theyve a nice cycle bike tour (and the windmills, n tulips
)) )
i’m going with my mom, and she hardly travel unlike me, i can handle those hectic travel-days, but i think my mom is more to the type of travelling, in groups, and with a travel guide guiding you throughout the journey in the city.
ps/: owh now im thinking of goin to turkey. easier n need only a booking to travel agency!
) !!!
helpp!! i dont want my initial plan to b ruined (by me.
Venice, Prague, Amsterdam, Kraków
1. Amsterdam is a good choice for “different.”
2. I would definitely look for a less hectic travel style than flying to widely scattered cities. I would pick a few cities that are close together and take the train.
3. I really don’t think you’ll want to do the long, long train rides required for your itinerary. Since you want to take the train, change the itinerary.
4. Turkey would be a great choice, although it might be fairly hard to get around “on your own” with the language issues.
5. I don’t think you can ruin a trip — except maybe by picking 4 or 5 cities that are scattered all over Europe for a short trip. Travel between Ukraine and the rest of Europe is going to continue to get cheaper and easier in the future. Don’t look at this as your only trip, or even the only trip your mother will make, unless you make the trip so hectic your mother decides “never again.”
woaa thnx for the wise reply oldlady!
1. i’ll exclude amsterdam =(((((
2. i’ll consider venice->prague-> (is it a must ? to go vienna/munich/budapest?) —> krakow.
3. is train better? or shud i take easyjet/ wizzair ?
4. turkey = any good travel agent recommend??
Venice, Prague, Amsterdam, Kraków
1. I think you misunderstood. I think Amsterdam is a good choice, however it probably doesn’t fit very well with the rest or your choices.
2. My opinion:
Venice and Prague – two of my favorites
Munich and Budapest – highly recommended
Vienna – I don’t care for it, but it’s a decent visit and it might make sense for a short stop with the other cities you’ve mentioned. Spend some time drawing this out on a map.
3. Train or plane depends on which cities you finally choose. I always take the train if the train ride is less than 5 hours. I take the train unless a flight is significantly cheaper for train rides that are 5 to 7 hours. I fly for any trip where the train ride is over 7 hours, or take an overnight train if I can’t find a cheap flight.
4. I have not used a travel agent for Turkey, other than I booked our hotel in Istanbul through a Greek travel agency because I used them for arrangements in Greece. I don’t think they’d be helpful for general arrangements in Turkey.
I cannot agree with oldlady more, Munich and Budapest are two of my favorite cities in the world.
I just wanted to tell you that I was in much the same position as you last year, I was looking at a 15 day trip and I wanted to go everywhere, but it is impossible to go everywhere you want to go in 10 or 15 days. An example from my experience, is that I really wanted to go to Dublin at the end of my trip, and I lost a whole day traveling there and getting to my hostel that would have been better spent touring somewhere closer to Paris, the previous city I was in. I have regretted doing this ever since, but it by no means ruined my trip, it was a learning experience that will enhance my next trip. So please learn from my experience, just enjoy and experience the cities you can realistically visit in 10 days and just have a great time. Hope i Helped
Nuremberg, Berlin, Vienna, Munich, Bratislava, Budapest, Dublin
munich and budapest, i viewed that most of the attractions are based on architecture,…(my mom loves scenary thats why), and much of them r about churches and cathederals (ive enough while travelling in italy).
so i think i’ll pick : KRAKOW—EINDHOVEN(
> amsterdam) -prague-venicedone. from 4th -15th.july… =)))
wish me luck!
but i’ll wait till tomoro before i make any booking. _ mybe tonite i’ll get some good replies hopefully
