Hello guys,
So I’m gonna spend a month in Vienna in September and I can only travel on weekends and I have two weeks in October to travel around as well.
I am trying to choose the countries/cities I will go to and the best way to get there.
Here’s the list of countries/cities I want to go to (Feel free to suggest crossing out or adding any countries) and please tell me the best way to get to each country from Vienna.
My transportation budget is around 250-300 Euros maximum
1) Amsterdam
2) Croatia
3) Paris, Toulouse, Nice, Bordeaux
4) Munich, Hamburg
5) Zurich
6) Milan
7) Barcelona

Thanks a lot

See Skyscanner, Whichbudget, and Momondo.com for cheap flight hops. Also get over to Bratislava (30mins.? bus from Vienna), and down to Slovenia.

It’s going to be really tough, if not impossible, to see all of those places with your budget, especially since cheap flight options from Vienna aren’t quite as cheap/numerous as with some other cities. Have you already booked your ticket from home to Vienna and back? If not, try to book a multi-city ticket where you can fly into Vienna and home from say Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, etc. When will the two weeks at the end of your trip begin?

Why Zurich? Why Milan? Zurich is an okay city, but it ‘s not in the Alps. Milan is a big, busy city with few really interesting sights for a tourist. Both are expensive. While both are transpiration hubs, so generally easy to get to, I don’t think they’re great picks for your limited time and resources.

€250 to 300 should cover your 2 week trek at the end, but it will be very tight for covering that and your weekend trips. Check for specials on the Austrian rail website: http://www.oebb.at/e… and the national rail company websites for the other countries you’re visiting. Links are in a sticky at the top of this forum or under “transportation” on the “travel tips” tab.
